Naoki HIRAYAMA − Editorial Board Member

Naoki HIRAYAMA, Professor of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Toho University, was born in 1963 in Sapporo. He received Bachelor (1987), Master (1990) and Doctor (1993) degrees of Science from Kyoto University. After being a postdoctoral fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (1993) at the university, he joined Kanazawa University as Research Associate (1993), and was promoted to Associate Professor (2002). In 2010, he moved to his present position. His current research interests include separation chemistry using a novel ion-recognition reagent and/or ionic liquid–water two-phase system. His motto in scientific and educational presentations is "All of the audience are gods", advocated by the late Mr. Haruo Minami. He loves Japanese comedy, named "Owarai", and Japanese SFX films, such as the Godzilla series. Although he believes that sunglasses suit him because of shyness, he is afraid that he may have to change his sunglasses to far-sighted glasses along with his aging.
