Molecular Recognition and Interfacial Catalysis at Liquid-Liquid Interfaces

The interface between two immiscible liquids with immobilizedmetalloporphyrins, enzymes and submitochondrialparticles can serve as the simplest model of biological membrane convenientfor the investigation of redox reactionaccompanied by spatial separation of charges. In this mini review, we havedescribed the vectorial charge transfer andmolecular recognition at liquid/liquid interfaces. The structure of liquidinterfaces, donor-acceptor interactions in theelectrical double layer, hydrogen and specific bounding between moleculesplay the dominant role in molecularrecognition and interfacial catalysis.
